IT Services has established 2 maintenance windows to be used for performing service and/or upgrades to BCIT's Information Technology systems.

BCIT internal network: Reserved for maintenance to all major BCIT systems (e.g. Banner, Email, Network, myBCIT, etc.).
Every Saturday 18:00 - 24:00 (6pm to midnight).

BCNET (internet): Reserved for maintenance that will impact connectivity to the internet.
Every Sunday 00:00 - 06:00 (midnight to 6am).

Investigating - Between Oct 1-8, emails were sent to employees with Adobe licenses indicating that their entitlements would expire on October 9th at 8:53 GMT time.

Adobe licenses expired on October 1st for all employees and it was presumed to be an erroneous email.

This morning (October 9) IT Services received reports from staff who had lost access to Adobe Acrobat today (per the original email). Staff are working to re-add any accounts that were removed and the process should be completed by 12:00 noon October 9th.

Resolved - We have since disabled the notification process in all our environments to ensure no further messages are inadvertently sent out. Apologies again for the confusion and thank you for your patience as we work to prevent this from happening in the future.

Update - We are continuing to investigate this issue.

Investigating - IT Services discovered that due to a change made over the weekend (October 4/5, 2025), inadvertently triggered the delivery of notifications that should have been sent April 14/15, 2025. Those notifications had been backlogged due to an error in configuration.

We would like to assure you that a breach did not occur, and your data has not been sold.

We have since disabled the notification process in all our environments to ensure no further messages are inadvertently sent out. Apologies again for the confusion and thank you for your patience as we work to prevent this from happening in the future.
