For the latest updates during the shutdown, visit status.bcit.ca.
BCIT Facilities is replacing the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) that supports the SE12 Data Centre. This is a critical infrastructure upgrade that will help modernize the data centre and improve resiliency.
To complete this work safely, IT Services will be performing two planned, overnight data centre shutdowns on: • Saturday, February 28, 2026 — 6:00 pm to Sunday, March 1, 2026 — 6:00 am. • Saturday, March 21, 2026 — 6:00 pm to Sunday, March 22, 2026 — 6:00 am (tentative).
While we will aim to restore services as quickly as possible, we ask the community to please plan ahead for the full window.
What to expect:
If you are on campus during these windows, you may experience some disruption to certain BCIT systems. In particular: • All services hosted in the SE12 Data Centre will be unavailable, including Banner and student email. • BCIT wireless internet (Wi-Fi) may be affected under specific circumstances where you have to re-authenticate, which you will be unable to do during the shutdown.
What will still be available: The following services will remain available • Microsoft 365 services, including staff email, Teams, and OneDrive. • BCIT Learning Hub if accessed directly via learn.bcit.ca.
If you need to work during these times, we recommend working off campus and using a non BCIT internet connection.
Updates: We will post reminders, progress updates, and any schedule changes (including confirmation of the March 21 date) on status.bcit.ca and in the BCIT Weekly newsletter.
